Frequently Asked Questions

What is the meaning of intercultural training?

Intercultural training is all about making sure that your team, or your team and your customers, understand each other and can turn their differences into effective collaboration, communication and great service.

How do you teach intercultural skills?

We start by helping the group to identify exactly what culture is and how it impacts communication and team working or service provision.

Then we start to identify the positive impact culture can have on how teams function, perhaps develop a knowledge of the different cultures with which the team works and evaluate how the team can improve the experience colleagues and customers can have by working together in synergy. We then work together to create an action plan to align vision, culture and behaviours for the benefit of all.

What are the benefits of intercultural training?

There are so many benefits to intercultural training – both to individuals, teams and organisations.

Understanding the strengths of their team’s cultural blend better allows teams to reach their goals faster and more efficiently.

A greater knowledge of customers’ cultures improves the experience those customers receive in their interactions with your organisation.

Managers and teams are empowered with the tools to build relationships with colleagues and clients alike, ensuring your organisation makes the most of the opportunities this diversity brings.

What’s the difference between ‘intercultural’ and ‘multicultural’ education?

‘Multicultural’ describes a variety cultural groups that exist independently of one another – it’s a passive term, these groups are surviving in their own different ways.

‘Intercultural’ indicates something is happening between different cultures – it’s an active description of interaction between culturally diverse people.

Our training encourages a shift from a multicultural team, where culturally diverse people work side by side, to an intercultural team, where these people interact, share and learn from each other.

Why is teaching intercultural competence important?

People are an organisation’s greatest asset or liability depending on how much they understand themselves and others.

Many issues within teams in organisations are due to a clash of values, personalities and leadership challenges and they often come from the lack of understanding of why people think and behave differently.

Culture is not just nationality – it can include 15-20 different factors including age, gender, work and life experience as well as personality types and communication styles.

We are all working in multi-cultural teams, so whether you have international clients or a diverse team, working effectively with different cultures takes a special skillset. Giving your people these skills will elevate them to high-performing, innovative and sustainable teams.

Who would benefit from intercultural competence training?

Any team or organisation who has, or serves, multi-cultural teams. Everyone.

What is intercultural competence training?

Intercultural competence training helps individuals understand, respect, and work effectively across cultural differences. It builds cultural awareness, communication skills, and adaptability for diverse teams and international contexts.
