Sterling Training Approved as a Highfield Qualifications Centre

The Sterling Training team is delighted to announce that we have been approved as a registered Highfield Qualifications centre, enabling us to deliver nationally recognised qualifications for instructors and trainers across military, defence, further education and private training sectors.

The approval was confirmed on 15 September 2026 and Sterling is now authorised to deliver:

  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training
  • Level 3 Award in Delivering Training

These qualifications represent an important addition to Sterling’s growing portfolio of instructor development programmes and further strengthen our ability to support organisations in developing best practice in their trainers, instructors and subject matter experts.

With our strong heritage in military and defence training, we have long supported instructors in the UK and internationally. Becoming an approved Highfield centre enables us to combine our practical expertise in instructional techniques, learner-centred delivery and international training with nationally recognised qualifications.

The Highfield Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) is designed for individuals who have, or are preparing for, teaching and training responsibilities and wish to develop their knowledge, skills and effectiveness as trainers. The qualification provides an introduction to teaching and training and is suitable for those working within military and defence organisations, private training providers and further education colleges.

What makes Sterling’s delivery unique is our emphasis on learner-centred training techniques and cultural awareness. Drawing on years of experience delivering training to diverse audiences in the UK and internationally, the programme goes beyond the qualification requirements to help trainers understand how people learn, how to engage learners effectively and how to overcome the challenges that can arise when working across different cultures and communication styles.

The qualification covers core areas of professional practice including lesson planning, essential teaching techniques, learner engagement, giving feedback and assessment methods.

Commenting on the approval, Sterling’s Managing Director, Emma Lacey, said: “We are incredibly proud to become an approved Highfield centre. We’ve been training military and civilian trainers for over 10 years and these qualifications align perfectly with our commitment to developing world-class trainers and instructors. By combining nationally recognised qualifications with Sterling’s expertise in learner-centred training, cultural awareness and instructor development, we can offer an even more valuable learning experience for our delegates and clients.”

As demand continues to grow for qualified trainers and instructors, especially in the defence industry, this approval ensures Sterling Training is well placed to support organisations that want to develop confident, capable and effective training professionals.
